Verse 1:

Good house. Good car. Could things like that be happiness?

좋다 = to be good

집 = a house

차 = a car

그렇다 = to be like that

게 = a thing

행복 = happiness

-ㄹ 수 있다 / -을 수 있다 =  to be able to do X (행복일 수 있을까)

-ㄹ까 / -을까 = used to wonder about something (있을까)


In Seoul to the SKY 부모님은 정말 행복해질까?

In Seoul to the SKY. Would our parents really be happy?

(SKY refers to the three most prestigious universities in South Korea: Seoul National University, Korea University, and Yonsei University. They are all located in Seoul.)

부모님 = parents

정말 = really

Who made into these studying machines?

A continual digging of one hole to fill another.

계속되다 = to be continuing

돌려막기 = constantly playing catch-up with oneself, robbing Peter to pay Paul, etc. The word literally breaks out to 돌리다 = to turn something, spin something + 막다 = to block


어른들이 하는 고백

The adults profess,

고백 = a confession


너넨 참 편한 거래

“You have it really easy.

너네 = you (plural)

참 = quite, very

편하다 = to be comfortable, easy


분에 넘치게 행복한 거래

넘치다 = to overflow

분에 넘치다 = to be more than is deserved

Then what is this unhappiness I feel?

그럼 = if that’s the case (short for 그러면)
