-만 = just X, only X (하루만)

내 = I, me, my

-에게 = to X, for X (내게)

시간 = time

-이 있다 / -가 있다 = to have X (시간이 있다면)

달콤하다 = to be sweet

니 = you, your

향기 = scent, aroma

-에 = at X, on X (향기에)

취하다 = to be drunk

-아서 / -어서 = to do X and then… (취해서)

곤히 = deep, fast (as in sleep)

나 = I, me

잠 = sleep 

들다 = to enter

-고프다 = to be hungry for X, to really want to do X (잠들고프다)


빡빡한 스케줄 사이에 기회가 있다면

If there was an opportunity in my tight schedule 

빡빡하다 = to be tight, jammed

사이 = between, the spaces between things

기회 = a chance, an opportunity


따스하고 깊은 눈 안에 몸 담그고파

I’d want to immerse my body in your deep, warm eyes.

따스하다 = to be warm

-고 = X and (따스하고)

깊다 = to be deep

눈 = an eye

안 = the interior of something

몸 = a body

담그다 = to immerse, to soak


I like that, 너의 그 길고 긴 생머리 올려 묶을 때의

I like that, when you tie up your long, long straight hair,

너 = you

-의 = indicates possession, like ‘s in English (너의)

그 = that, those

길다 = to be long

생머리 = naturally straight, unpermed hair

올리다 = to raise, to put up

묶다 = to tie, to bundle up

때 = the point in time when something happens


아찔한 목선과 흘러내린 잔머리

your dizzying neckline and your soft hair flowing down.

아찔하다 = to be dizzy

목선 = neckline

-과 / -와 = “and” when followed by another noun, “with” in all other cases (목선과)

흘러내리다 = to flow down (흐르다 = to flow + 내리다 = to go down)

잔머리 = baby hairs, strands of hair


서로 같이 어딜 가든 내 핸드백은 니 허리

No matter where we go together, your waist is my handbag.

서로 = each other

같이 = together

어디 = where, somewhere

가다 = to go

허리 = a waist


Yo ma honey 볼 때마다 숨이 막혀 명동 거리처럼.

Yo ma honey. Everytime I see you my breath catches, like the streets of Myeongdong.

(Myeongdong is a tourism and shopping district in Seoul. Very packed, very little room to breathe.)

보다 = to look at, to see

-마다 = each X (때마다)

숨 = a breath, breathing

막히다 = to be blocked

거리 = a street

-처럼 = like X (거리처럼)


우리의 bgm은 숨소리.

Our background music is the sound of breathing.

우리 = we, us, our

소리 = a sound, a noise


내 이름을 불러줄 때의 

When you call my name, 

이름 = a name

부르다 = to call (aloud, not on the phone)

-어주다 / -아주다 = adds a nuance of “as a favour to” or “for” someone (불러줄)


니 목소리에 잠겨서 난 수영하고파 너를 좀 더 알고파.

I want to sink into your voice and swim in it. I want to get to know you a bit better.

목소리 = a voice

잠기다 = to sink, to be submerged

수영하다 = to swim

좀 = a bit, a little

더 = more

알다 = to know

I’m an explorer, on an adventure deep in the forest of mysteries that is you.

미지 = something unknown, strange

숲 = a fores

모험하다 = to have an adventure

탐험가 = an explorer


너란 작품에 대해 감상을 해

I admire you like a work of art.

작품 = an art piece, a work of art

대하다 = about X, of X (X being the preceding noun)

감상하다 = to appreciate, to admire


너란 존재가 예술이니까

Because your existence is art.

존재 = existence

예술 = art

-이니까 / -니까 = because it is X (예술이니까)


이렇게 매일 난 밤새도록 상상을 해

Every day I stay up all night imagining it,

이렇다 = to be like this

매일 = every day

밤새 = through the night, all night

-도록 = to the extent of X, so that X (밤새도록)

상상하다 = to imagine


어차피 내게는 무의미한 꿈이니까

because it’s a useless dream for me anyway.

어차피 = anyway

무의미하다 = to be meaningless, pointless

꿈 = a dream

그렇다 = to be like that

얼마나 = how, how much

좋다 = to be good

-을까 / -ㄹ까 = used to wonder about something, sort of to oneself (좋을까)


아무데나 가서 밥 먹고 영화 한 편만 볼 수만 있다면

If we could just go somewhere – anywhere, eat something, and watch just one movie,

아무데나 = somewhere, anywhere

밥 = rice, but commonly used to refer to food in general

먹다 = to eat

영화 = a movie

한 = one (shortened form of 하나)

편 = a word used for counting movies, or episodes of TV


나란 애 정말 뭔 짓이라도 할 텐데 girl

This guy would seriously do whatever it takes, girl.

애 = a kid, a guy

정말 = really, truly

뭐 = what, something

짓 = an action, something one does

-이라도 = 1. used to indicate that you don’t know specifically what, but the important thing is that it’s something. 2. used to say that X isn’t the best option, but it’ll do (짓이라도)

-ㄹ 텐데 / -을 텐데 = future tense hypothetical conjugation “one would do X” (할 텐데)


I’m sorry, 내 머리가 넘 이성적인가 봐

I’m sorry, I guess I’m being too rational.

머리 = a head

넘 = too, so (shortened form of 너무)

이성적 = being rational 

-ㄴ가 보다 / -는가 보다 = “Looks like X”, “I guess X” (이성적인가 봐)


그래도 언젠가 보면 웃어줘

Still, if we see each other sometime, smile for me.

그래도 = even so, however, still

언젠가 = sometime, someday

-면 / -으면 = if X, when X (보면)

웃다 = to smile, to laugh


조금은, 아니 어쩌면 많이 날 원망하겠지

나팔꽃 = a morning glory 

피다 = to bloom, to blossom

만나다 = to meet

헤어지다 = to part, to separate

쉽게 잊혀질 거라 생각 안 했지만

I didn’t think it would be easily forgotten, but 

쉽다 = to be easy

-게 = turns an adjective into an adverb. IE: “easy” becomes “easily” (쉽게)

잊히다 = to be forgotten

생각하다 = to think

안 = to not do X (X being the accompanying verb)

-지만 = X but… (했지만)


너에게 난 그랬음 좋겠다면 이기적일까

would it be selfish for me to tell you I wish it would be?

-았음 좋다 / -었음 좋다 = (그랬음 좃겠다면)

이기적 = being selfish


널 위해서라며 아직 난 거짓말하고 있어

I’m still lying, saying it’s for you.

위하다 = to be for X, for the benefit of X (X being the preceding noun)

아직 = still

거짓말 = a lie

-고 있다 = present progressive form. IE: “I’m lying” instead of “I lie” (거짓말하고 있어)

한가운데 = the middle, the heart of something

서다 = to stand

햇빛 = sunlight

-네 = adds a nuance of amazement or surprise (담그네)

I wouldn’t end it. Late in the beautiful night,

끝내다 = to end something

아름답다 = to be beautiful

밤중 = the middle of the night

고백하다 = to confess (Koreans use this word on its own to talk about confessing their feelings to someone)

조명 = lighting

달 = a moon

일 = a thing, a matter

-들 = makes a noun plural (일들이)

말하다 = to speak, to say
