Verse 1:

I sink to the ground alone.

혼자 = alone

주저앉다 = to sink down (not in water, but to the ground, to a sitting position, etc), to flop down

My thoughts just keep on growing.

생각 = a thought

-만 = just X, only X (생각만)

크다 = to be big

-어지다 / -아지다 = makes an adjective transitional. IE. “to be big” becomes “to be getting big/bigger” (커져가)

How long have you been hurting me?

언제 = when

-부터 = from X, since X (언제부터 = “from when”, literally)

너 = you

나 = I, me

아프다 = to be hurt, to be sick

-게 하다 = to make X happen (아프게 헸던가)

Even you don’t know.

조차 = even

-도 = X too, X neither (조차도)

모르다 = to not know

-잖아 = used when saying something the listener already knows(모르잖아)

Pre-Chorus:

너도 아프잖아 ’cause you’re mine

You’re in pain too ‘cause you’re mine.

I just wanna blow your mind

Once again you’re drifting away like this.

이렇게 = like this

또 = once again

멀다 = to be far away, distant

가다 = to go

“아무렇지 않은데”

“I’m alright.”

아무 = any

-렇다 = in the way of X (so here, “in any way”, sorta. But this doesn’t get used on its own. You’ll typically see this as part of an expression)

-지 않다 = to not do X

That’s what I say, but

그렇게 = like that

말하다 = to say, to speak

actually I guess I’m not.

사실 = a fact, “actually”

내 = I, me

그게 = that, that thing

아니다 = to not be X (X being the preceding word)

-ㄴ가 보다 / -는가 보다 = to guess that X is the case, for it to look like X is the case. IE. “Looks like it’s going to rain tomorrow.” “He’s frowning. I guess he’s mad at me.”

Chorus:

I want you to be your light baby

You should be your light

So that it doesn’t hurt anymore.

더는 = anymore

-게 = so that X, in order to make X happen (않게)

So that you can smile.

네 = you, your

웃다 = to smile, to laugh

-을 수 있다 / -ㄹ 수 있다 =  to be able to do X

I want you to be your night baby

You could be your night

So that this night can be honest for you.

이 = this, these

밤 = a night

-에게 = to X, for X (너에게)

솔직하다 = to be honest, to be frank, open

Pre-Chorus:

너도 아프잖아 ’cause you’re mine

You’re in pain too ‘cause you’re mine.

I just wanna blow your mind

Once again you’re drifting away like this.

“아무렇지 않은데”

“I’m alright.”

That’s what I say, but

actually I guess I’m not.

Chorus:

I want you to be your light baby

You should be your light

So that it doesn’t hurt anymore.

So that you can smile.

I want you to be your night baby

You could be your night

So that this night can be honest for you.

Outro:

Promise me now.

이제 = now

약속하다 = to promise

Even if you feel alone multiple times a day

하루 = a day (as in “I spent a day there” not as in, “What day are you leaving for Korea?”)

-에 = to, at X. In this case “per X” (하루에)

몇 = a few, several

번 = a time (as in “multiples times”, not as in “time to go to bed”)

-씩 = each, apiece (번씩)

느끼다 = to feel

-어도 / 아도 = even if X (느껴도)

Don’t give up on yourself.

버리다 = to throw away, abandon, to give up on something

-지 마 = “Don’t do X” (버리지는 마)

Oh Stop here for a moment and

여기 = here

잠깐 = a moment

멈추다 = to stop

-아서 / -어서 = to do X and then… (used when the second action is directly related to the first. So not “I’ll eat breakfast and then read a book.” but “I’ll bend down and tie my shoe”) (멈춰서)

hook pinkies with me, and

새끼손가락 = pinky finger (새끼 = a baby (an animal baby, usually) + 손가락 = finger)

걸다 = to hang, to hook

promise me now.

Oh oh oh oh
