Language Note:
This song is written entirely in 존댓말, which is the grammatical form of Korean you use when speaking to someone with respect. You would use this to speak to anyone older than you or anyone in a position of authority over you, such as a teacher, a boss, your parents and grandparents, etc.
The two main differences you’ll notice are:
1: The usual 나 (I/me) and 너 (you) pronouns are replaced with a formal version (저 or 제 for “I/me”, and a person’s title or name used in place of “you”). In this song, you also see the word 그대 used. This means “you”, but implies fondness or affection.
2: You’ll see a lot of sentences ending in 요. This is the particle that adds respect to a verb/adjective.
