때 = the point in time when something happens

나 = I, me

다시 = again

기억하다 = to remember

메마르다 = to be parched, arid

땅 = land

불태우다 = to burn something


저 푸른 하늘 보며 뛰었네

I ran, looking at that blue sky.

저 = that, those

푸르다 = to be blue

하늘 = a sky

보다 = to see, to look at

-며 / -으며 = while X (보며)

뛰다 = to run, to jump

-네 = adds a nuance of surprise or amazement (뛰었네)


날고 싶었어 그 Airplane에서

I wanted to fly in those airplanes.

날다 = to fly

-고 싶다 = to want to do X (날고 싶었어)

-에서 = in X (airplane에서)

A native of Gwangju, obsessed with flying,

토박이 = a native

-의 = indicates possession, like ‘s in English (토박이의)

비행 = a flight, the act of flying

삼매경 = being absorbed in something


높고 높았던 꿈의 자리에서

here in this lofty lofty dream,

높다 = to be high

-고 = X and (when used between 2 occurences of the same adjective, it has a meaning of “extremely” or “very”) (넢고)

꿈 = a dream

자리 = a place, a spot


아름다운 세상 위를 날고 있어

is flying over the beautiful world.

아름답다 = to be beautiful

세상 = a world

위 = the top of something

-고 있다 = present progressive form. IE: “to be flying” instead of “to fly” (날고 있어)


늘 탈 때

Every time I board,

늘 = always

타다 = to ride, to board


첫 일본 행 때의 느낀 설렘

I feel the same excitement I felt on my first trip to Japan.

첫 = first

일본 = Japan

느끼다 = to feel

설렘 = excitement


아직도 생각해

I still think of it,

생각하다 = to think


그게 내 꿈을 띄웠기에

because that’s what launched my dream,

내 = I, me, my

띄다 = to launch

-기에 = because X. Used to give a reason why one is doing something. (띄웠기에)


지금을 만들었기에

because that led to now.

지금 = now

만들다 = to make

터지다 = to burst


안전한 도착에 축복을 담을게

축복 = a blessing

담다 = to set, to put in

-을게 / -ㄹ게 = “I’ll do X” with an added nuance of “unless you object” or “if that’s okay with you” (담을게)

개- = when placed before an adjective, creates a meeting of “freaking _” or “damn _”

욕하다 = to talk crap about someone, to swear


그 누군가들 질투도 외롭게 해

Those people are lonely even in their jealousy.

-들 = makes a noun plural (누군가들)

질투 = jealousy

외롭다 = to be lonely

-게 하다 = to make X happen, to make someone/something do/be X (외롭게 해)


신경 안 써 그저 웃게 돼

I don’t care, I’m just laughing.

Drink Champagne in my Airplane

신경 = nerves, mind, consciousness

신경 쓰다 = to care about something, to be concerned

그저 = just

웃다 = to laugh, to smile

-게 되다 = to end up doing X (웃게 돼)

구름 위를 매일 구름 위를 매일

Above the clouds every day. Above the clouds every day.

구름 = a cloud

매일 = every day


구름 위에 내 feel 구름 위에 check it

The way I feel on top of the clouds. On top of the clouds, check it.

구름과의 케미 구름과 하루 종일

Chemistry with the clouds, all day spent with the clouds.

-과 /-와 = “and” when followed by an accompanying noun. Otherwise “with” (구름과의)

하루 종일 = all day


구름 타는 재미 구름 보며 fade in

Having fun riding the clouds, fade in while I watch the clouds.

재미 = fun


너흰 몰라 maybe

Maybe you don’t know.

너희 = you (plural)

모르다 = to not know


몇 년 동안의 비행 탓에

Due to several years of flying

몇 = a few, several

년 = a year

동안 = during

탓 = fault, blame


마일리지만 몇 십만 때

my mileage is up in the hundreds of thousands.

-만 = just X, only X (마이리지만)

십 = ten

만 = ten thousand


못 이룬 너희들을 위로해줄 때야

It’s time to comfort those of you who can’t achieve that.

못 = to not be able to do X (X being the following verb)

이루다 = to achieve, to accomplish

위로하다 = to comfort

I’ll give you my travel reward points as a gift.

-로 = with X, via X, using X (포잍트로)

선물 = a gift

하다 = to do
