I wish it would rain all day.

하루 = a day

종일 = all day

비 = rain

오다 = to come

좋다 = to be good


누가 나 대신에 좀 울어줬으면 해서 yeah

Because I’d like someone else to cry in my stead for a bit, yeah.

누가 = who, somebody

나 = I, me

대신(에) = instead of

좀 = a bit, a little (shortened form of 조금)

울다 = to cry

-아주다 / -어주다 = adds a nuance of “as a favour to” someone, “for” someone (울어줬으면)


종일 비가 왔음 좋겠어

I wish it would rain all day.

그럼 사람들이 날 쳐다보질 않아서

Because then people wouldn’t stare at me.

그럼 = in that case, then (short form of 그러면)

사람 = a person

-들 = makes a noun plural (사람들이)

쳐다보다 = to look at, to stare at

-지 않다 = to not do X (쳐다보실 않아서)


우산이 슬픈 얼굴 가려주니까

Because my umbrella covers my sad face.

우산 = an umbrella

슬프다 = to be sad

얼굴 = a face

가리다 = to conceal, to cover

-니까 / -으니까 = because X (가려주니까)


빗속에선 사람들도 저마다 바쁘니까

Because in the rain, people are all busy with their own things.

속 = the inside of something (빗속에선)

-에서 = in, at X (빗속에선)

-도 = X too, even X (사람들도)

저마다 = each, respectively

바쁘다 = to be busy


좀만 느리게 숨 쉴래

I want to breathe just a little slower.

-만 = just X, only X (좀만 = 조금만)

느리다 = to be slow

-게 = turns an adjective into an adverb Eg. “slow” becomes “slowly” (느리게)

숨 = breath

숨 쉬다 = to breathe


평소엔 내 삶도 내 랩도 너무 빠르니까

Because usually my life and rap are too fast.

평소 = usual life, the ordinary

-에 = at, on X (평소엔)

내 = my

삶 = life

랩 = rap

너무 = too, so

빠르다 = to be fast


지금 모든게 제 위치로

Right now everything is as it should be.

지금 = now

모든게 = everything

위치 = a location, a situation


하늘엔 나의 그림자가 비치고

My shadow is reflected in the sky and

하늘 = the sky

-의 = indicates possession, like ‘s in English (나의)

그림자 = a shadow

비치다 = to illuminate, to reflect

-고 = X and (비치고)


어둠을 딛고 서 있어

I step into the darkness and stand there.

어둠 = darkness

딛다 = to step

서다 = to stand


고개를 밑으로 내 발뒤꿈치로

My head down, down towards my feet.

고개 = head

밑 = the bottom

-으로 / -로 = to, towards, X (This is one of multiple uses) (밑으로)

발뒤꿈치 = the heel of one’s foot

Verse 2:

비가 오면 조금은 나 친구가 있다는 기분이 들어

When it rains, for a little while I feel like I have a friend.

-면 / -으면 = if/when X (오면)

친구 = a friend

-가 있다 / -이 있다 = to have X (친구가 있다는)

기분 = a feeling

들다 = to enter, to have, to hold (context dependent)


자꾸 내 창문들을 두드려 잘 지내냐면서 안부를 물어

It keeps tapping on my windows and asking me how I’m doing.

자꾸 = “keep” as in “it keeps tapping on my windows”

창문 = a window

두드리다 = to tap, to knock

잘 = well (as in, “I’m doing well” or “I play chess well”)

지내다 = to spend (time), to pass (잘 지내(요/냐/습니까)? means “How are you?”, or more literally, “Is it going well?”)

안부 = news, tidings, inquiring after someone

묻다 = to ask


And I answer

난 여전히 삶의 인질

“I’m still life’s hostage.”

여전히 = still (as in, “I’m still in bed”, not “the water is still”)

인질 = a hostage


죽지 못해 살진 않지만 뭔가에 묶여있지

I can’t die and I’m not living, but I’m chained to something.

죽다 = to die

-지 못하다 = to not be able to do X (죽지 못해)

살다 = to live

-지 않다 = to not do X (살진 않지만)

-지만 = X, but… (않지만)

뭔가 = something

묶이다 = to be chained to, tied to, fastened to


나도 너처럼 어딘가 두드릴 수만 있다면

If I too, like you, could only knock somewhere,

너 = you

-처럼 = like X (너처럼)

어딘가 = somewhere

-ㄹ 수 있다 / -을 수 있다 = to be able to do X (두드릴 수만 있다면)


온세상에 진하게 입맞출 수 있다면

if I could kiss the whole world deeply,

온세상 = the whole world (세상 = world) 

진하다 = to be deep (as a kiss)

입맞추다 = to kiss (입 = mouth, 맞추다 = to put two or more things together, to fit together)


그 누군가 나를 맞아줄까

would someone welcome me,

그 = that, those

누군가 = someone

맞다 = to welcome 

-ㄹ까 = used to wonder about something, sort of to oneself. (맞아줄까)


내 고된 몸을 어쩜 받아줄까

perhaps take in my weary body?

고되다 = to be tough, arduous, trying

몸 = body

어쩜 = perhaps, maybe

받다 = to receive, to accept


제발 아무것도 묻지마 그냥 영원히 내려줘

Please don’t ask any questions, just come down forever.

 제발 = please

아무것도 = nothing

-지 마 = “Don’t do X” (묻지 마)

그냥 = just, (as in “just for a minute”)

내리다 = to come down


네가 내리면 외롭지 않아

When you come down I’m not lonely. 

네 = you, your

외롭다 = to be lonely


너라도 내 곁에 있어줘

If no one else, at least you, please stay by side.

-라도 /-이라도 = indicates that X is not the ideal option but it’ll do, or “if nothing else, at least X”. (너라도)

곁 = the spot at one’s side

-에 있다 = to be in/at X (곁에 있어줘)


잿빛 세상에서 살고 싶어

I want to live in a dull, grey world.

잿빛 = grey, ashen

-고 싶다 = (살고 싶어)


영원 따위 없는 걸 알고 있어

I know there’s no such thing as forever.

영원 = forever, eternity

따위 = kind of means, “X or anything like that”, “X etc”, “Anything like X”, X being the preceding word

알다 = to know
